To the Citizens of Needham,
I am writing to announce my candidacy for a second three-year term as a member of Needham's Board of Selectmen. I hope Needham's voters will agree that I have been an active and effective member of that board. I pride myself on being accessible to citizens and respectful of all viewpoints. During my first term, I established good working relationships with each of my colleagues and together we were able finally to accomplish the two-long standing goals of finishing the restoration our Town Hall including its James Hugh Powers Hall and in launching the implementation phase of Needham's new Senior Center. As the current Chairman, I have been able to foster a collaborative approach in the work of the Board.
I stand for:
- finding strategic opportunities for the Town to promote and grow the business portion of our community's tax base so that the tax burden does not rest so heavily on our residents,
- sustaining and leveraging our community's assets within our means,
- finding affordable ways to sustain the Town's historic legacy,
- promoting public/private collaboration to achieve community goals,
- and building consensus around finding and implementing solutions to the challenges facing our community in a time of high demand and limited resources.
I am proud of my record in public service and I would greatly appreciate your support and vote in the Town Election on Tuesday, April 10th. In the meantime, I can always be reached by e-mail at mhandel@needhamma.gov or by phone at 781-449-2850.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Maurice “Moe” Handel
